The Joys of Preaching in Your Second Language
What I wanted to say:
Posso incoraggiare, e posso scoraggiare. I can encourage and I can discourage.
What I said:
Posso incoraggiare, e posso scoreggiare. I can encourage and I can fart.
What a difference one little letter makes.

sooooo funny! that’s a pretty close difference. in german schwul means homosexual and schwül means humid. i try to avoid both.

that’s hilarious! i think i’ve blocked out most of my language blunders.
one that i can’t ever forget, though, was when i was trying to ask a lady for a pen (very confident i was saying the word correctly, mind you) but i was actually asking her for a nose. no wonder she looked confused.

yikes, it doesn’t seem fair does it when they make words sound so much alike!!? But at least you did not tell a lie, either way.
